A Brief History

EDI Services entered the field of Emission Spectrometry Interface design and production in 1988. Based on a background of 10 years previous experience in the technique and work in electronics and software development, our ultimate aim was the production of the definitive tool for the analyst and production control.

The first product based on the Personal Computer was the DataSpec system. The software models and electronic designs of this model were later incorporated into the PCA100 system successfully supplied through PC Analytical from 1989. Time and technology however move on.

In late 2001 a major redesign project was commenced by EDI to enhance both the technical specification of the hardware and the facilities available within the software. Advances in processor capabilities and micro-electronics coupled with the new SODEX(c) user interface (developed by EDI) have extended the boundary of  possibility for system enhancement without compromise to ease of use.

The flagship product ASC-260 has now been successfully launched. It is probably the first ever fully user installable plug-n-go upgrade computer system available in this field. The advanced features available for remote system and application diagnostic support via the internet, make the ASC-260 system the premier choice for effective operation and less costly support in Optical Emission Spectrometry worldwide.

The switch from standard Windows desktop PC to Industrial Grade Computer hardware signalled a major advance in our activities. For the future, we are dedicated to the development and production of our products and customer support activities. Details of the launch of our AIS-260 Spectrometer measurement and control interface system will be released soon. Current field trials show impressive performance enhancement as compared to competing products. As a direct replacement for existing Spectrometer internal measurement and control electronics, it will form the perfect partner to the ASC-260 host processor and represent a cost effective solution to replacement of obsolete components within older Spectrometers.
